Mac VPN

A Mac VPN is a VPN setup on macOS that routes traffic from your MacBook or iMac through a secure tunnel. macOS users often care about reliability during Wi-Fi roaming, good performance for video calls, and consistent DNS handling. Many providers offer native macOS apps that support WireGuard for speed and OpenVPN/IKEv2 for compatibility. A strong Mac VPN should include DNS leak protection and a kill switch (often implemented via firewall rules) to prevent traffic escaping during reconnects. macOS networking features and third-party security tools can sometimes interfere with VPN drivers, so troubleshooting may involve disabling conflicting network filters, updating the VPN client, or switching protocols. For streaming, choose region-appropriate exits and be prepared to rotate servers if a platform blocks known VPN IP ranges. In DVPN usage, a Mac client may allow you to pick exit nodes by region or reputation; prioritize stable, high-uptime exits for daily work, and consider multi-hop only when you need it. Validate privacy with DNS and IPv6 leak tests after installation and OS updates.
